U.S. Navy SEALS killed Osama bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan on Sunday, May 1, 2011 (U.S. Time Zones). The White House continues to modify its position on how the action unfolded, with the latest White House version being that bin Laden was unarmed but appeared a threat. Reports also vary on violence used. According to an article in the the New York Times, Al Qaeda confirmed his death today.
USAKIA has created 11 polls to assess the public's reaction to the Abbottabad Operation on various levels, including the opinion of those affected more by events such as those who have served in combat and those with killed in action (KIA) or died of wounds (DOW) in their family. Answers could also help USAKIA with its position on the matter. Though somewhat unscientific, please vote in any and all polls which apply to you regarding our government's handling of the action. We would appreciate comments from all--however especially from those who answer polls other than the one "open to anyone." It will help confirm the validity of the vote.
The polls will remain open and active until 11:59PM PDT on May 31, 2011. Unless otherwise specified, answers involving U.S. armed forces include any service date(s), including prior to 9/11. Likewise, terrorist acts before 9/11 can also be included unless otehrwise specified. Please remember, official Memorial Day 2011 is Monday, May 30.
