A USAKIA executive committee responsible for inter-organizational and governmental relations has approved a resolution formally protesting the treatment by Regis University of the nonprofit’s president and assistant Webmaster, Vincent Bartning. Vincent also has a close familial relationship to two KIAs, his grandfather, John Wallace Rich, and his cousin, Louis Bartning. According to the resolution, the dispute stems from mistreatment and bias against him in a social-marketing class in their Master’s in the Nonprofit Management (MNM) program.
Vincent entered the program last summer, shortly after graduating from San Francisco State University in May of 2009. USAKIA’s president had complained with the school about his treatment by the class "facilitator" and the grade he received. The resolution states he received further prohibited bias in the complaint process. He also filed a complaint today about the matter with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, which enforces laws prohibiting retaliation as well.
